Stewardship Committee

The Convener is Mr Ian McVean

Stewardship Committee looks at all things Finance and Property and supports the work of congregations within these areas

Each year the attestation of Congregational Accounts seem to improve and this past year continued the trend in the report send to the Church of Scotland. This is partly due to Treasurers becoming more confident in the preparation of the accounts and also taking advantage of the help provided by the Stewardship Committee. All accounts were attested and in OSCR's hands by the due date and as far as the Committee is aware all accounts were accepted by OSCR. This year the Church of Scotland send all congregations information about the role of Independent Examiners.
During the year the Stewardship Committee has monitored what is happening with the National Stewardship Programme among the 46 congregations in the Presbytery. The Committee have encouraged congregations to call on the services of the Church of Scotland's Consultant for the Presbytery, Mr Stuart Sangster, and a number have done that. As the year ends, the Stewardship Committee are again requesting information from all congregations about what they did in 2017 and with what success and what they propose to do in 2018.
Four congregations had their Quinquennial Surveys done by the surveying firm Graham & Sibbald.
The same firm carried out ten interim surveys of congregations.
Manses in the Presbytery were inspected when the charge became vacant.
